The Bujinkan Dojo is the international organization founded by Masaaki Hatsumi in the early 1970s. Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu embodies authentic techniques from nine traditional schools of samurai and ninja combat arts that Hatsumi-Sensei inherited from his teacher, Toshitsugu Takamatsu. Some of the schools in this art can trace their history as far back as the 10th century. The emphasis of the training is on the natural and relaxed body movement found within the art. As a student you are taught to use minimal strength but to instead focus your skills on the correct distance and angles. In training the lessons are taught within both their historical and modern context. As a student of the dojo you learn to develop a wide range of combative skills to fit all circumstances. Most of the physical training can fall into one of the following categories.

DAKEN TAIJUTSU:
Striking & Kicking methods using the whole body.

JUTAI JUTSU:
Locking and throwing methods using the whole body.

NINJUTSU:
Stealth and tactical arts of the ninja.

BUKIJUTSU:
Weapon arts.

JISSEN NEWAZA:
Ground fighting tactics intended for warfare.

TAIHEN JUTSU:
Break falls, rolling, leaping, running and walking.

JUNAN TAISO:
Body flexibility and conditioning.
